“I Get Buckets,” is a term used far too often by today’s youth. Scoring, is an art form. We have all seen players score at a torrid pace for a short period of time. The few players that can get a basket, regardless of the help defense stacked against them, are special.  The “40 Ball,” is chased by many, but attained by few.

Today we start a new feature series called “Running The Wings,” which discusses the the fine art of scoring from the wing spot (or shooting guard, small forward) on the floor. Make no mistake about it, the players in this section, get buckets.

The sneaker community has some of the most loyal and passionate fans in the world. People dedicate their lives to ammassing an amazing collection of kicks. As a sneakerhead I can tell you that there is no better feeling than pulling up to an event with a crispy pair of exclusive kicks.

One of the most beautiful things about sneakers is they often come out at a fairly reasonable price point when they arrive at box price. As a result, you see people from all walks of life in some of the most amazing sneakers everyday. Over the past 15 years, you have seen love of sneakers dominate television shows, commercials and sports. From Seinfeld, to The Fresh Prince, to Lil’ Penny, it was message was clear: It’s all about what’s on your feet.

Today we continue our “Great Feets” article series, which is dedicated to players we see with some of the most stylish on court sneakers. Recently we sat down with Roselle Catholic / Mac Irvin Fire wing Kahlil Whitney at the Nike EYBL to discuss his passion for sneakers, his top 3 sneakers all time, what sneakers are currently in his rotation on the court and more. --Christian Mordi @thedribbledrop

It started on the courts. As a child, Jon Lopez would pour his heart out on the hardwood, putting his all into every shot and defending his opponent like his life was on the line. Earning respect in the parks in the summertime is a rite of passage for any legitimate New York City basketball player. Lopez, like many, faced that task head on. The price of admission was blood, sweat and tears. Jon embraced the task and earned his stripes.

Today, Jon is still married to the courts, but in a different capacity. Lopez is now one of the best photographers in the game. The talented shooter has mastered the art of capturing player in their purest form on the court.

I started playing basketball in 4th grade.  My dad got me into basketball heavy. In 6th grade, I started taking the game more seriously. My coach told me that I needed to expand my game beyond just shooting and to work on my ball handling. I took on the challenge and dedicated myself fully to the game.

Being apart of Team USA for an event is an experience that all athletes have on their bucket list.

The experience starts with a daunting task, as there is a rigorous tryout process. Hundreds of players come from across the U.S. to show they deserve to be a part of Team USA and chase a gold medal. While many enjoy watching the players compete in the event, few know exactly what it takes to be apart of Team U.S.A. Their exciting journey to greatness should not be hidden, but discussed and embraced!
