Team analysis: Last year Shawnee made some major noise due to a spectacular state tournament run. While Shawnee lost to Linden in the Group 4 championship game, they made their city proud.
While that pleasant glimpse into the past is all good and dandy for Shawnee fans, I’m sure members of the team approached this off season as they have a lot of unfinished business to attend to this year. Luckily for them, this unit is returning a strong supporting cast.
Leading the way is Senior Dylan Deveney. The jack of all trades player put together a sensational season in 2017. Deveney can score in a variety of ways, utilizing his wide array of skills to average 17 points per game last year. For his efforts, DD made the First Team All Group 4 team. Looking to join the fun this year is fellow senior Dean Noll and junior Patrick Kernan.
Shawnee has the ball handling, shooting and veteran experience to win Group 4 this year. All they have to do it put it all together when it matters most.
Only time will tell.
Stat to know: Senior Dylan Deveney signed to play baseball at Lafayette.
