Why they’re on the list: Being apart of a legacy can be a daunting task, but Dara Mabrey is clearly up for the challenge. Growing up, Dara had the benefit of watching her older sisters Marina and Michaela excel on the high school level. In 2015, Dara had the pleasure of playing with her older sister Marina. At the end of her senior year, it was clear that Marina was ready to pass the torch to Dara. The great news was that Dara was ready.
Dara is the definition of a floor general. In transition, she puts tremendous pressure on the defense due to her pinpoint passing and scoring ability. In the half court, the crafty guard keeps the offense running like a well oiled engine. Her ability to make proper decisions on the fly and navigate traffic played a huge factor in the team’s success last year.
One part of Dara’s game that pops out everytime you see her play is her passion for the game. Dara plays incredibly hard night in and night out. She is a relentless defender and competitor. Mabrey sets the tone defensively for Manasquan. It’s no surprise that former Rutgers standout Epiphanny Prince, a passionate player and high level defender, is one of Dara's’ favorite players.
Having signed to Virginia Tech, Dara is completely focused on winning a State Championship this season. With a loaded roster returning a lot of talent for a team that went to the T.O.C. final, odds are they will be the favorite this year to go all the way.
Go get a chip youngin.
Stat to know: With a solid 21 point per game average, Dara will crack 2,000 points for her career.
