Jamarques Lawrence, a class of 2022 three-star out of Roselle Catholic, had an initial commitment date set for November 1, but he pushed it up, and will announce his college destination on Friday at 2:00. Shortly after the announcement, he will join NJHoopRecruit for an interview via Instagram Live.
Wake Forest and Nebraska are the two finalists for the 6’2” shooting guard, but Lawrence’s recruitment did not start with ACC and Big Ten programs.
Nine months ago when Lawrence went into his junior year, his only offer was from Fairfield, but he saw his recruitment take off over the summer with the New York Jayhawks while playing on the Adidas Circuit.

At a September open gym at Roselle Catholic, Steve Forbes, the Demon Deacons head coach watched and met with Lawrence, and he took a visit one week later. He also tripped to Lincoln for an official Nebraska visit the week after.
After Lawrence’s sophomore season, he transferred from Plainfield High School to join the Lions, where he made an immediate impact, leading the team in three-pointers made, and scoring the second-most points.
Lawrence will return to the Lions’ Den for his senior season as a key piece of one of New Jersey’s most talented teams.
