Class of 2023 point guard Jayden Lemond transferred from Dwight-Englewood to powerhouse Blair Academy, and he has some big shoes to fill.
“I think I can help Blair out in a lot of ways,” Lemond said. “My game is very versatile, so I’ll be a big piece of the team this year. I want to come in and score, playmake, and play great defense.”

Lemond is ranked in the top 40 in the nation by 247Sports, and as a four-star recruit, has a number of colleges coming after him. Over the summer, the 6’3” guard took visits to Georgia, Georgia Tech, Vanderbilt and UConn.
“Overall, the visit experiences were really good,” he said. “Getting a chance to see a day in the life of all the student-athletes at each school was an amazing opportunity for me.”
Lemond also mentioned Notre Dame and Stanford are the most recent schools to enter his recruitment.
Originally a member of 2022, Lemond reclassified to ’23 along with his move to Blairstown.
“It has most definitely helped me,” he said about his reclassification. “As far as my recruitment, it has given me some extra time to depict some schools and has opened up new options as well.”
When he announced he would move into New Jersey’s loaded class of 2023, he also broke the news he was joining the 12-time Mid-Atlantic Prep League champions.
“Blair is a great place to stay locked in and chase your dreams. The guys here are all about each other and look after one another, it’s crazy,” Lemond said.
The Buccaneers only got the chance to play two games last season, and this season, they’re expected to rise back to the top of the state’s prep rankings.
Lemond said, “To be honest, the thing I’m looking forward to most is just getting back out there and playing.”
