Elliot Cadeau, a Bergen Catholic sophomore, was recently ranked as the number one point guard in America in the class of 2024, and he sat down with NJHoopRecruit to discuss his recruitment, international hoops, and what he is expecting for his high school team this upcoming season.
“For me, it just shows how hard work can pay off,” Cadeau said about his ranking. “It doesn’t really mean anything as far as how I play and how I will play this upcoming season. I’m still going to be myself.”
The seventh ranked overall 2024 prospect in America has gained national college attention, and holds early offers from Seton Hall, Providence, TCU, UMass, and Siena. He mentioned some new schools have
shown interest without extending offers.

Cadeau also competed with Sweden’s national team, and led them to win the Nordic Championship
Gold Medal. In their close semifinal win over Finland, he had 21 points, five assists and three steals.
“I had to make some adjustments to my play style, but it was a really good experience for me,” he said about playing overseas. “The coaching and play style was very different, but the biggest change was on the defensive end. In early games, I was getting in foul trouble, so had to adjust according to the refs’
calls. I also had to play better off ball defense because they move without the ball so much, and I wasn’t used to that.”
At Bergen Catholic, Cadeau was a varsity starter as a freshman, and helped lead them to a top five spot
in the final state rankings last season. He has high hopes for the Crusaders in the 2021-22 season.
“I’m expecting to go undefeated this year. I don’t think any team in New Jersey is better than us and I feel like we can really go far,” the 6’2” guard said. “All of my teammates and I have the same
expectations going in.”
The Crusaders have a loaded team, which features their trio of guards -- Cadeau, four star Will Richardson, and sharpshooter Julian Brown. All three are division one prospects. They also return 2024 big man Terry Copeland.
